Setting up auto-configuration/autodetection
Thunderbird and Outlook are able to automatically determine the settings foremail accounts based on the email address you enter. To do this, they need to be able to look up certain details for your domain.
If Precedence is providing your DNS service, this should already be setup. If not, please ask us to check the settings for you.
If you manage your own DNS service, you will need to add the following records to your domain(s):
- SRV record for _autodiscover._tcp, priority 1, weight 10, port 443, target discover.ptlnet.com.
- CNAME alias for autoconfig pointing to discover.ptlnet.com.
In a standard zone file, these look like:
_autodiscover._tcp IN SRV 1 10 443 discover.ptlnet.com. autoconfig IN CNAME discover.ptlnet.com.
